Radiohead released a new video for their song "House of Cards" the other day. Radiohead tends to make artsy and pretentious music videos, so what's the deal this time? Now they've used a form of laser beam powered motion capture to render people. Sounds kinda cool, right? Meh, sounds kinda like a CGI music video to me, like so much "Money for Nothin" but different. This is being billed as, "a music video that was made without using any cameras!!!" So it's basically an animated short? Cartoons and CGI clips are made without cameras these days. In fact, this isn't even Radiohead's first video without the use of cameras. Remember Paranoid Android? Yeah, me neither... Let me be clear, I'm all for any music video where I don't have to look at Thom Yorke, god he's ugly...
I was disappointed in this video because I was hoping the laser light show junk would be trippy and allow me to escape to a world in which Thom Yorke's ugliness doesn't haunt me day and night. That's not what happened. You see, Thom Yorke's ugliness transcends any medium. It doesn't matter how many laser beams you shoot at his face, he's still not gonna be something I wanna look at.
I always imagined Thom Yorke as a Bond villain. Something along the lines of the dude from The World is not Enough. Renard, the bad guy, had a bullet in his brain that made him stronger and stronger as it moved through his brain until it would eventually hit something important and kill him. I know, it wasn't a very good Bond movie... Anyway, I figure Thom Yorke got shot by an ugly gun at some point and he's getting uglier and uglier until the day when that ugly bullet eventually kills him. With all that being said, I thought the video was kinda cool. Nothing really exciting but the song wasn't all that exiting anyways. It's not like you could get away with explosions and motorcycle jumps in this video.

...but yeah, they could have picked a better song from that album from which to make a video. House Of Cards is pretty straight forward, but nothing I could consider "promotional" from a selling standpoint.
That picture of Thom Yorke looks eerily like Yoda.
While I'm at it, the CAPTCHA required to post comments is really hard to read.
...was me...I forgot to sign in. And looks like I don't have to do the CAPTCHA if I'm signed in. That's good.
i change the captcha to be a math question instead of an image, i guess they were kinda hard to read
A shallow idiot.
not exiting.
Clear evidence that Leia was sleeping with Yoda.
you dumbass.... when you post a picture of someone you should usually inform people when that shit is photo shopped... That is a photo shop of Yodas face being blended with thom yorkes...
You have jealousy issues you need to work out with your therapist this week...
I'm pretty sure that isn't a real photo... Actually I'm 100% certain. Moron
Hey,
Look I was reading your comment about this new Radiohead video made "withou cameras" and I don't agree with you but I get your point. I'm a Radiohead hard fan but I've always thought that press and critics are a little too hysterical about this band. It simply can't be that EVERYTHING they do is as genius as so many people say, but I do think they are an intelligent and remarkable band. And I do think Mr. Thom Yorke is a man of big talent and clear mind, not only in the music and creative process but also in political, enviroment and other issues he usually talks about.
But what I really don't understand is your comment about Thom's supossedly "uglieness"... Man, why is Thom's face so important to you? Really, what would that have any importance in the final thing with this band, which is their music and multimedia work? We are not talking about a "band boy" here... I think the same Thom has never intended to appear as a hot guy, but whatever, if he would have done it, this wouldn't have any relevance at all at the end in my opinion. I simply can't understand you and I really want to do it, that's why I'm kind of wasting my time here... Asking you why all this bad vibe to this musician, who by the way, I find pretty cool and attractive (probably it's his big mind which I admire so much what makes me think that way. I don't care about the faces, I care about the brain). But that isn't important at all either, it's the music what finally counts here.
It really amazes me, the thinking of some people. What can be important for them I really don't get it so many times.
