If you're between the ages of 14 and 30 you've probably heard the "Arnold Schwarzenegger calls [insert place of business here]" sound board calls. The premise was simple, someone would call a customer service number or a restaurant and record the reactions of unsuspecting employees as they tried to have a conversation with audio clips taken from Kindergarten Cop or some other Schwarzenegger movie. These calls usually ended with the human on the call getting yelled at by "Detective John Kimble" as he demanded to know who their was was and what it is that he does. There are several variations on this theme involving sound boards of other celebrities. These are all pretty funny but they are limited in that the caller can only react to the sound board for a limited time until they hear the same clip one too many times and realizes what is going on. The next incarnation of sound board harassment has arrived and there is much more human interaction this time.
Behold VentertainMe! There really is no info on who this guy is. He's clearly a genius whoever he is... Old soundboard pranks where simple and linear. You'd have one dude on the phone and one dude on the soundboard. There were only so many combinations of clips of the guy from Slingblade you can play before someone realizes they're getting jerked around. Ventrilo is the game changer here. Imagine being able to tap into untold numbers of partyline phone calls populated by nerds who are playing video games. Instead of jerking around one person on the phone you can instantly annoy multiple nerds with the push of a single button. Not only that but you can record your exploits (legal) and quickly turn these dumbasses against themselves. This VentertainMe guy does all that and more.
Ventertainment is a collection of this guy's exploits on the Venternets. This guy has an uncanny ability to take audio clips of nerds and manipulate them in, what seems like, real time. Sean Elliot of GFW described it best as a dude who picks on those games who you wish didn't really exist. He's talking about the type of people who say LOL and LUL phonetically. There is no point in trying to explain these videos any more, just check out the clips below and see for yourself.
Here is a list of my top five. Visit this genius' YouTube channel for the full list of 20+ installments.
Ventertainment - Halloween 3
This one is actually kinda creepy... The clip used here is from Halloween 3, it's an evil commercial that hypnotizes fools into killing others. It's an annoying techno oompah beat, pretty benign, nothing loud. Where it gets creepy is when this guy records the chick in the channel saying "babycakes" and then plays that back over the Magic Pumpkin songs. He then lowers the pitch on her voice and it gets extra creepy. The female nerd eventually admits to using "shrooms, like all the time.""It's that damn magic pumpkin!"
Ventertainment - Bubb Rubb
This one is a classic play on the KRON4 news segment featuring Bubb Rubb and Lil Sis at the muffler shop. Bubb Rubb, a "whistle fan," does his patented "WOO WOO!" line a number of times before it devolves into an extended minute long stretch of Bubb Rubb's "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" After collecting a few choice clips from the vent nerds, we get treated to a Crazy Train remix with vocals by one of the nerds."Healthy Stuff"
Ventertainment - Vajas
This one is a hilarious mix of Snoop Dogg and something called Vajas. The Vajas clip seems to be a Finnish or Swedish folk rap clip which sounds incredibly annoying in a funny way to anyone who doesn't speak Sami. Once one of the nerds on vent makes the mistake of imitating the Vajas song the prankster turns it back around on them by remixing that imitation over Snoop Dogg's "What's My Name?" ...You know it better as the song that goes, "Bow Wow Wow Yipee Oh Yipee Yay.""You speak that Hippie language, what's he sayin'?"
"I thought it was Korean or somethin..."
Ventertainment - Sticky Keys
A close second favorite, this is nearly the best Ventertainment ever. The prank is pretty straight forward. This guy logs into a vent full of PC gamers and plays stock error sounds such as sticky keys and the hardware found chime. What makes this clip so great is the use of the song Apache by the Sugar Hill Gang. The visual is almost as hilarious as the audio. VentertainMe overdubs the sticky keys error chime over the song and keeps repeating the "Tonto, Jump On It!" line."SEND A REPAIR TRUCK! WE NEED A REPAIR TRUCK!!!"
"Hardware found?!"
...providing me with hours of (v)entertainment. Thank you. That Top Gun one is the best.
